LETTY PEREZ | columbia business school

Letty Perez was born in Monterrey, Mexico and grew up in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2012 and started her career as a Teach For America corps member and bilingual educator in the Bay Area. Inspired by her students and driven to ensure high-quality educational opportunities for students in under resourced communities, Letty sought to tackle one of pubic education’s most pressing challenges: talent acquisition. As the Associate Director of Talent at KIPP Bay Area, Letty has been co-leading a team responsible for attracting, recruiting, and hiring a diverse pool of high quality educators for a network of 15 schools. Her experiences as a human capital leader within the education reform movement have motivated Letty to keep expanding her perspective and leadership skills so that she can continue driving outcomes for marginalized students on a broader scale. In the Fall of 2019, Letty is set to attend Columbia Business School, where she has been selected to be a Columbia Fellow and a CBS Forté Fellow. Outside of work, Letty advocates for music education in public schools by serving on the board of Music For Minors.
